The winner of the 1st Annual Funniest Pet Hat Contest was Minnie, a Pomeranian who was accompanied by her guardian Jennifer Timms.  She received a $100.00 gift certificate courtesy of PetSen$e.  Second place received a goody bag of pet items also donated by PetSen$e and was taken by a black cocker spaniel named Bridgett.  Bridget was accompanied by her guardian, Bobby H. Graves.

Runners and walkers started from the LEACO office at 220 W. Broadway at 7:30 AM on Saturday, August 1st and traveled the out-and-back course from Broadway up Turner Street, circling a block around Rojo before returning.  Runners and walkers enjoyed the best marked course in the ten years of the run as the City of Hobbs graciously allowed for the easternmost side of Turner to be blocked during the race. City policemen and women donated their time to ensure each intersection was monitored and safe for the participants.
