Switch Engineer Leaco Rural
Telephone is seeking qualified applicants to apply for
Switch Engineer.
The Switch Engineer performs required work to maintain
all Leaco switching facilities, including monitoring the
performance and troubleshooting of our Lucent 5ESS
and ECP
switches, and Nortel DMS10 switch,
telephone and cellular switching centers, remote offices,
tower sites, fiber optic light wave terminals, and paging
terminals. The switch
engineer will design, build and troubleshoot transport circuits
including SONET, OC12, DS3, DS1, and T1’s.
The switch engineer will implement translations for both
landline and cellular switches and interconnecting trunks. The
switch engineer is responsible for the necessary actions to
correct all service outages.
I. Education and /or Experience
Applicants are
strongly preferred to have a Bachelors degree in
Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Maintenance, or a
similar field of study from an accredited college or university
and related industry certifications from Lucent or Nortel plus a
minimum of 6 years applicable experience.
Applicants must have at least a minimum of
H. S. Diploma or equivalent with six months vocational training
in telecommunications and knowledge
and skills acquired through
industry training and certifications plus 6 or more years of
applicable experience.

The ability to train and supervise switch technicians.

Skilled in switch translations in one or more of 5ESS,
ECP, and DMS10 switches.

Ability to analyze and execute vendor MOP’s for
maintenance or deployments.
9.
Knowledge of switch hardware and ability to troubleshoot
and maintain.
10. Ability to test, turn-up, and
troubleshoot circuits including T1, DS1, DS3, OC12, and SONET.
11. Knowledge of CDMA optimization in the
ECP
switch.
Experience in Microwave Facilities and
Transport, Cell site hardware would be a plus.
